Skin-eze Saved My Dog!
by David T. Williams
If you've been reading Good Dog! over the last five years, you've seen a few articles on Skin-eze™ as a great itch relief pill. Here are a couple of great success stories.
First, though, a little background. We discovered Skin-eze about 6 years ago, when we were based in Charleston, SC. Our vet had created this magic formula to stop itching. It contained a mix of interesting herbs and spices, plus fiber supplements (to keep the intestinal tract clear).
We tested it with Chops and Katie, and were totally impressed. They've been on it ever since. And, since our readers wanted to buy it, our sister company, Good Communications, arranged to sell it.
The formula has changed a little over the years, going from a powder to a chewable tablet, and getting regular flavor updates. The most recent formula change was last July, when all of the cheese and dairy whey used for flavoring was eliminated. This change took care
of the few dogs who tried Skin-eze, but were sensitive to the dairy products. The current flavorings are dextrose and lactose sugars, plus broccoli powder.
There's no reason to put up with itching, scratching, and chewing. Your dog can't do anything about it. (No, he doesn't enjoy it, and no, he's not in the habit of chewing on himself -- he ITCHES!) But you can give him the one product that stops the itching from the inside: Skin-eze.
We hear a lot of success stories with this product. Here are two we just received.
I took my Sophie (Alaskan Malamute/German Shepherd mix) to our vet yesterday for a bath. I wanted to show her off! She first went on prednisone in September, 1998. Since then, she'd been in and out of the vet's office for shots, medicine and baths.
We tried prednisone, Vetalog injections, Cephalexin and Medrol (related to prednisone), along with DermCaps and Lipiderm. Neither one of us got much sleep -- between clanging tags and thumping feet. She wouldn't let me brush her, her hair was falling out, she had red bumps on her underside and flaky dandruff-like stuff on her back. She had chewed most of the hair off her tail and had scabs and sores on the base of it. I was miserable ... she had to be even more so. Her elbows were raw and bloody. I remember finding something gross on her and crying. I was losing hope and money, and she was worse. The day I received Good Dog!, I didn't even read it. I stopped at the Skin-eze page, read it twice, and called to order it. I had been praying to find something to make Sophie better, and there I was -- on May 13th -- holding it in my hands! I started her on four tablets in the morning and four in the evening of May 15th. I kept her at that level through almost two jars. I took a bunch of pictures and hoped for the best. On Monday night, May 17th, Sophie got into bed and I waited for her to start with the scratching -- but she didn't. She just went to sleep. The hair on her belly felt softer, too -- not as wiry. On Tuesday, after our daily walk, she let me brush her and I noticed new hair growth at the base of her tail. The next day, I noticed how much better she looked -- softer fur and skin. The dandruff-like stuff on her back seemed to be drying up. She was still chewing on her front legs and scratching her elbows, but it was much less than before. She became more playful and spunky and slept better and more restfully. After only four days, I was ready to take her to the vet to see his amazement! Over Memorial Day weekend, Sophie let me brush her a lot. She had so much new hair growth. Her skin was pink again, her tail was getting soft and furry, and she seemed to be much more comfortable. I think she let me brush her more because her skin didn't hurt. I was sitting on the ground brushing her back, and she actually fell asleep! Then I rolled her over onto her back and she fell asleep, again, with her head on my leg, while I brushed and petted her. I took more pictures. After one month, her tail was looking like a tail -- that's been the most amazing thing to see. It's now July, and yesterday I took Sophie to get a bath. Pam, her groomer, took one look at her and said, "Oh my, she's beautiful! What did you find?" I can honestly say that her reaction was the highlight of my day! I handed Pam copies of all the Skin-eze articles and an empty jar so she could read the ingredients. The ladies in the office were amazed when I showed them a picture of Sophie from May 15th. They just couldn't believe it! When I picked Sophie up from her day of beauty, Pam told me she didn't put any conditioner on her, that her skin looked great, her elbows were healed, her tail full and beautiful. I'm so grateful, and I imagine Sophie is even more so. She's beautiful, again, and we're both getting sleep! Tam and Sophie Grace Wheeler Benton Harbor, MI
Dear Good Dog!, I might as well order the 6 jars at the discount price. My dog, Orie, has a brother, White Paw, who has the same skin problem and he needs Skin-eze for sure! I'd love you to include Orie in your Skin-Eze success stories!! We first got Orie when he was two years old. He had lived in three homes, survived a hurricane alone under a Jeep, and was a dumpster diver when he snuck into our lives. Orie had horrible skin problems. It seemed he was allergic to the bush and would be all pink and rashy under his front and hind legs, not to mention some weird scab things that would form along his backbone and drive him crazy with itching. When the scabs came off, so did his fur. We even thought he might be allergic to his dog food, which was mainly corn. But a change of food had no effect. We tried all kinds of things, from shampoos to dips. Amazingly, he has always been flea- and tick-free, which is hard here in the bush -- especially in the drier seasons (yes, we do have seasons here in the U.S. Virgin Islands). Just by chance, I sent for a dog training tape called Command Performance®. With it came a sample issue of Good Dog!, and that's where I saw the article about Skin-eze.
I sent for a jar of tablets, and within a month there was a noticeable change in his coat and his itching. Then I introduced the Skin-eze shampoo, and since then he has been a scab-free and healthy-coated happy dog who wags his tail. (Orie just turned 6 in January. That's him in the picture on his birthday.) I did do a little experiment one time when I ran out of the tablets and within a week he was already getting pink and itchy... I try not to run out of the tablets so he can continue to be happy and healthy (and spoiled and loved). So cool -- thanks a lot! Arlene Altman St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands
